What I fix
Most jobs are done at your place with a full kit in the van. If a job needs a lift or a bench, the car comes back to the workshop in Newtown and you get it the same week.
On price
Every job is quoted before a spanner moves. Parts are billed at what I pay for them, labour is a flat call-out plus time. If the quote changes once the car is open, you hear it from me before I carry on.

Engine & diagnostics
Hard starting, misfires, overheating, oil and coolant loss, timing and belt work, head gasket jobs. I read fault codes on site before anything is stripped.

Brakes & suspension
Pads, discs, drums, brake fluid, master and wheel cylinders, handbrake adjustment. Shock absorbers, bushes, ball joints and steering play — the rattles that get worse on laterite.

Auto electrics
Alternators, starter motors, batteries and charging faults, wiring repairs, lights, indicators, wipers, central locking, window motors, radio and alarm fitting.

Ten years of noise
I started out as a boy in a garage off the Brikama highway, sweeping floors and handing up spanners. By the time I was twenty I was doing full engine rebuilds on my own, and by twenty-five I had bought my first van and started going to the cars instead of waiting for the cars to come to me.
That is still the whole idea. A lot of people in Brikama cannot drop a car off for three days — it is how they get to work, how they carry goods to the market, how they take a child to the health centre. So the van is loaded every morning: sockets, jacks, a compressor, a battery tester, a diagnostic reader, the common filters and belts for the cars I see most.
I work on Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes and the small Peugeots that are everywhere here. If it has an engine and four wheels, I have probably had my hands in one.

When I answer
Six days a week, nine to seven. Friday is the day off — that is the one day the phone goes quiet, so plan around it if the job is urgent.
Breakdowns
If the car will not start and it is blocking a road or a gate, call anyway. I will tell you honestly whether I can get to you today or whether you need a tow to the workshop.

Coming from the Brikama highway, turn in at the Newtown junction and follow the tarmac past the second compound wall — the workshop is the one with the blue gate and the van parked outside. If you cannot find it, call and I will walk out to the road for you.
Before you call
Have the make, model and year of the car ready, plus what it is doing — noise, smell, warning light, when it started. It saves a trip and it usually means I arrive with the right part already in the van.
